I didn’t know this SHIFT trick. I’ll try it.
What I have been doing for the past 7 years is simply to rename the DB file name (sse_samp.dbf) to any name. update the CFG and I’m done, I can see the licence key view.

Hi Nitin,
Thanks for the reply. I got where I faulted(May be helpful for other new comers ). I had entered only one of the all Inclusive license key for each of the domains, although instructions at the oracle site clearly stated
“License Key Strings (apply all listed strings)” . That was the problem.
When I entered all listed strings, all error messages vanished and got all missing screens and views…

Thanks for your positive comments.

My best guess would be that the License Key you entered is not correct. You may need some other License Key for Siebel Government module. Try going in for All Inclusive License Keys. Your Siebel Server Admin should be able to help you here.

Hi Thanks for this wonderful tips. Initially for the first time I entered license key for Sample Application – Siebel Business Applications (SEA / Cross-Industry) 8.0 . I comfortably worked in Siebel Call center. But now when I tried to login to Siebel Government Application – Siebel Public Sector I got the error which states exactly as :
We detected an Error which may have occurred for one or more of the following reasons:
View ‘HLS Investigative Home Page View’ is not licensed for this site.(SBL-DAT-00327)

I then entered the new license key for Siebel Industry Applications (SIA / Verticals) 8.0 as mentioned in this post.

Although the license key got accepted, but still whenever I try to login to Public Sector application, same error appearing.

I am new to Siebel and would appreciate comments in this regard…

okay. If you can’t login to siebel tools, Himanshu’s tip can solve the problem. Nice workaround himanshu. How come Oracle doesn’t know of these workarounds.

Requirement-

It is general problem when people need to compare their custom Siebel Web client Application to Siebel Vanilla Sample Client at that time their Seibel Sample Client pop up the error for Expiry License key and it is so frustrating for a developer .
So here we have one alternate solution for those who do not have access to Support web.

Steps for Resolution-
1) Copy the Sample DBF from …\Siebel\7.8\web client\SAMPLE folder and paste it to …\Siebel\7.8\web client\LOCAL.
2) Open the Client CFG from …\Siebel\7.8\web client\BIN\ENU and go to [Local] section.
3) Change the parameter [ConnectString] to …\Siebel\7.8\ web client\LOCAL.\sse_samp.dbf -q -m -x NONE -gp 4096 -c40m -ch60m

If you don’t wand to perform step 1) then in cfg Change the parameter [ConnectString] to …Siebel\7.8\ web client \sample\sse_samp.dbf -q -m -x NONE -gp 4096 -c40m -ch60m

4) Log in to Web client put USER ID = SADMIN, Password = SADMIN and Connect to = Local
5) Now Go to Application->Administration->License Key and copy any valid key from Local client to here.
6) Again open the standard Sample Client and now you are able to login successfully. And do your research.

Still I feel the resolution given in Prachi’s Post is easier if you can open the Sample tool without any problem.

whoa!! what a solution..!!
I just tried it, and it seems to work like a charm..

Up till now, for the same problem, I used to hit the Sample DB tables directly, and used to insert the keys into SAMPLE by using the “INSERT INTO VALUES ” statement I picked off ITToolbox.com somewhere..

So, Siebel does provide some softer workarounds than apply BRUTE FORCE!!
