Siebel – Upgrade Process – Part II
by Nitin JainThis is a continuation from the post, Siebel – Upgrade Process – Part I.
Step 5: Merge Repositories
Use Siebel Tools. In my Siebel Tools, the path is Tools -> Upgrade -> Upgrade Application…
You may need to Prepare a Repository before this.
Follow the suggested steps to merge the Current Repository to the Repository in the new release.
Step 6: Run Post-Merge Utilities
You would be able to leverage the Postmerge Utilities to Upgrade Form Applets, and to verify that Applets and Views are configured correctly, available directly in Siebel Tools. These analyze any Customizations in the existing Installation and apply changes as needed. These would now conform to the new UI in the new Siebel Application.
Step 7: Upgrade Custom Database Schema (upgphys)
Run the DB Configuration Utility in “upgphys” mode this time. It’ll further upgrade the Siebel Database with changes resulting from Repositories Merge. Basically, this takes care of the Customizations and completes the Database Upgrade.
Step 8: Perform the Post-Upgrade Tasks
Install the new Siebel Tools on the Developer Workstations and Extract Developer Databases of the Upgraded Application. Don’t forget to run Database Statistics.
Set up User Access and Visibility of Screens and Views.
Migrate Data and prepare for Testing.
Finally, Test, test and Test !!

Whats the point in copying and pasting stuff from bookshelf ??
Why would someone come to a website like this, if it does not tell you the operational details of a practical upgrade?
this article is bullshit !!
Hi Chandra (aka a siebel guy),
I am sure you are all in the well being of the Siebel community, and would like to see the siebel community grow.
As a follow up of your comments, please share the Web Address of the website where you share your real life experiences.
Two, please share the location of the Bookshelf, where the Bookshelf gives you so much information in such few words. If you intend to read 500 pages of a PDF to understand this topic, I very much agree with you that this article is not the Best place for you to learn new things.
Three, I am sharing you just a sample of the most popular links on this website. These are also shown in the “Most Commented” section on the Footer of this website. Do let us know as to how many of these are there in the bookshelf.

Four, this is a public forum. Please mind your language when discussing constructively, as there are many others who would be reading your comments. It does not put across a very favorable view of your personality.
Waiting for your response on our reply above.
Cheers..
